About The Project
CCS led the development of a 276,450 SF, 5-story facility with 979 beds that combines the Cook County Department of Corrections’ Reception Classification Diagnostic Center (RCDC, or intake facility) with a Residential Treatment Unit (RTU), in response to the increasing number of inmate admissions and mental health evaluations. This new facility houses intake, holding, and processing areas as well as dormitories, clinics, medical services, and associated administrative functions. The facility is seeking LEED Silver certification. Sustainable features include a mechanical system with more than 200 thermostatic control zones, the latest in building automation control technology, and a green roof.
