About The Project
CCS served as the Owner’s Representative for the expansion and renovation of the 68,000 SF $18.5M DeKalb Public Library. The project needed to be managed with great care because the existing 19,500 SF Haish Memorial Library facility was almost 100 years old and is listed on the National Historic Register.
CCS worked with the project team—including the architect, Sheehan Nagle Hartray—to phase the library building project, eliminating the need to relocate and minimizing the amount of time the library would be closed. Once the 3-story, 52,000 SF addition was completed, renovation work on the existing Haish Memorial Library building commenced. Library operations continued on-site through most of the multiple phases of construction.
As the owner’s representative, CCS acted as the liaison and “translator” between the Board of Trustees and the project team. Additionally, CCS managed the project controls, CM selection, public bidding, and FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and other equipment) process on behalf of the Library Board of Trustees and Library Director. Due to the processes implemented by CCS International, the project was completed under budget and on the scheduled completion date. This project achieved LEED Silver certification.
